Observation Date / Time

Gray fox with extensive damage to head laying perpendicular to road in NB lane at Stuart Creek overpass. Did not see body when passing area about 18:00 hours earlier this evening. Considered possibility of it being alive, so carefully checked and moved it to side of road covered in towel but, already expired. Stuart Creek is in the process of restoration work by Sonoma Land Trust. This is part of the Glen Oaks Ranch which is SLT property. SLT is planning to open a portion of Stuart Creek along Arnold Drive to public this year. This is part of the Sonoma Valley Wildlife Corridor. Don't know if there is space alongside Stuart Creek underpass to accommodate wildlife that would not or could not pass within the creek bed when full of water as it is now (Tony Nelson of SLT would be able to give more information on this). As Gray Fox's are tree climbers, would they utilize an overpass of some sort, more stable than a rope bridge? Much of the wildlife I record on Sonoma Highway is found on road at creek overpasses which are usually blocked by wire fencing or choked by Himalayan blackberry and other non-native plants though do not believe this is the case at Stuart Creek bc of restoration work.
