Governor Newsom signed SB395 (Wildlife Traffic Safety Act) into law, which will allow Californians to legally recover meat from 4 species of wildlife killed by vehicles -- elk, mule deer, pronghorn, and wild pig.
The law requires that the state develop an app for people to record the animals from which they wish to recover meat and to obtain a permit.
The experimental tool on CROS shows how this could be easily done. It borrows from Idaho's equivalent tool, which has been working well for the last 8+ years.
