Male Western Gray Squirrel apx. 10 feet South of creek (not sure of name; may run into Calabazas Creek [or Stuart Creek?]) passing under Sonoma Highway. Guardrails on both sides of road at creek underpass. Quarryhill Botanical Garden and vineyards on East side of road and Mayacama Mountains beyond. Homes with large plots of land on West side of road with vineyards, gardens; also, appears to be storage of some landscaping or construction materials. Wire fencing on both sides of road. Wire fencing on East side is apt. 6 feet hight and space between wires is 6x9 inches. On West side, there are two layers of wire fencing - outer fence is apx. 3 feet high and inner fence is apx. 8 feet high with barbed wire at the top. On West side, creek also passes under old railroad overpass. Wire fencing is blocking all but apx. 2 to 3 feet of space above creek on both sides so wildlife is not able to pass freely along creek. Mixed oak woodland on both sides along highway. Weather at time of observation: High clouds, 51 degrees F.
