On September 5, 2016, at 10:30am, Bighorn Institute received multiple reports of a bighorn hit and killed on Highway 74 south of Palm Desert. Institute biologists investigated the reports and found an 8 year old ram dead near post mile marker 85.85 on the shoulder on the north side of the road. We removed the carcass off the highway out of public view and CA Fish and Wildlife collected the carcass.
