Observed at apx. 13:30 but didn't stop to record until 16:00. Weather: 57 degrees and rain. A dead mature turkey vulture was also observed apx. 25 feet North of body on East shoulder of road. Most likely hit trying to scavenge jackrabbit. Could not move rabbit to side of road as road was quite busy and body was badly crushed. Will record turkey vulture in separate observation as well. Vineyards on both side, no fences. No road underpasses along this stretch of road and there are no creeks.
