Observation Date / Time
'Carcass Disappearance' The second photo shows the power pole as reference and squirrel in the eastbound lane. This is rural residential with interior live oak, blue oak and gray pine as the dominant trees. Both sides have livestock fencing within a few feet of the road edge. Sheep and horses are grazed throughout this area. I have observed several western gray squirrels killed along this section of roadway. I went back to this site six hours after my observation and the squirrel carcass was gone. Pooled blood at the site was consistent with my initial observation. I did examine the road edges finding no sign of the carcass.
