Observation Date / Time
On June 30, 2014, at approximately 1840 hrs, Bighorn Institute received a phone call from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department that there had been a vehicle/bighorn collision on Hwy 74 below Vista Point. We responded to the call and found a 3 yr old unmarked ram “wedged” between a car and the hillside. Apparently, the ram had been crossing Hwy 74 from Deep Canyon to Carrizo Canyon when it collided with a motorcyclist coming down Hwy 74, who was thrown off of his bike. We confirmed both of the ram’s hind legs were broken and the ram had to be euthanized.
