mic #982 Cliff Swallow 1\5 (00) @ 34.889701, -120.510115 & 2015.05.18 ; 18:00 ; <12h. St 55.
Ca.1, ~1.1 mi. N Black Rd., Santa Maria. N bd sh. Agro/ grassland. Adult, fresh fleshy flat-skin. Xt, fs d. Seen on WALK.
Five (# 982-6) swallows in ~0.1 mi. of rd highly improbable, but: NW wind, almost same direction as rd, many swallows flying into wind ‘hang’ slowly over rd. Also: canal with water way below rd level to E: stream of swallows flying down to water, then flying up and low across rd to W over field (presumably a colony in that direction). Plus a straight stretch of rd with fast intermittent traffic: possible.
