Concrete K-rail has been placed immediately beside the road to trap soil and rocks that would otherwise erode from adjacent road-cut onto road. Snake crossing the road had nowhere to go, and was killed. Steep slopes, mixed oak woodland and chaparral, lots of large granite boulders.
