Observation Date / Time

An unusual bird for this location. Acorn woodpeckers are common in western San Diego County foothills, but are quite local, and don't frequent the riparian woodlands at Rancho Jamul, right where this bird was killed. Probably a disperser, moving southwest along the line of riparian oaks to the northeast of the site where it was killed.
