Flattened and crushed acceptable condition for identification, four toed male, probably Dipodomys merriami. Abdominal organs landed two feet away on the pavement. Appeared to run into the rear wheel of the local school bus. Sparse vegetative coverage dominated by Atriplex hymenelytra (Desert holly), Larrea tridentata (Creosote), and Erigonum inflatum (Desert trumpet). Weather: 0-5% cloud cover, 0-5 mph winds, 66 degrees Fahrenheit.
