The highway is bordered by habitat on both sides. Prior to this picture, the vegetation adjacent to the shoulder was trimmed approximately 7 feet back from the shoulder and nearly to ground level. Most of the herbaceous vegetation is non-native grasses with some blackberry (Rubus ursinus) and other natives. There aren't any barriers to wildlife movement across the highway.
