Condition
Dead
Animal
California Newt
Observation Date / Time
Roadkill along Sullivan Ridge Fire Road. The pancaked carcass was found along the road where there is a steep, vegetated drainage coming down from the hill above. The specimen is a little challenging to identify, but there are no scales, so lizards can be ruled out. The only salamanders of this size in the area are Arboreal Salamanders and California Newts. The skin texture and color are both consistent with an adult newt.
