Observation Date / Time

At least 30 dead birds of prey (owls or hawks) on I-5 between Winters and Williams in Yolo/Colusa counties. I thought they were hawks, but I called the Sacramento Wildlife Refuge and they told me it was more likely that they were barn owls and that they had received other calls about this. I have also been in touch with California Department of Fish & Wildlife who suspects that these deaths are most likely due to vehicles hitting them, but that if they are able to recover fresh carcasses, they do test for anticoagulant rodenticides.
