Observation Date / Time

On Friday, September 23, 2016, at 1425 hrs, Bighorn Institute received a report of a bighorn hit on Hwy 74 south of Palm Desert from CHP. Institute biologists immediately investigated and found an 8 month old of male lamb dead near post mile marker 89.24 on the east side of the road just off the edge of the highway. CHP was at the scene where 2 witnesses had stopped, but since the motorist involved in the accident didn't stop, CHP didn't do a report. We moved the carcass out of public view and CDFW was going to retrieve the carcass that evening.
