On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, a motorist stopped at Bighorn Institute to report a bighorn hit by a car last Thursday on Hwy 74 near mile marker 85.85. Institute biologists investigated the report and found a 9 year old ram carcass on the east side of the road ~50 meters past mile marker 85.85 approximately 20 feet down hill from a pullout. The carcass was not visible from the road and the estimated date of death was September 15, 2016.
