Observation Date / Time

Still alive but with fatal injuries; probable skull fracture, and blind. Measurements are: Snout-to-vent 100 mm, tail 180 mm. I had to rush her off the road before a Common Raven (Corvus corax) could eat her. I moved her from the center of the road to where she is located in the image. She was dead within 3 minutes of my spotting her on the road. I did place the carcass about six feet off the road so that the Raven could eat without being too disturbed by vehicle traffic. Sparse vegetation dominated by Atriplex hymenelytra (Desert holly), Larrea tridentata (Creosote), and Erigonum inflatum (Desert trumpet). Weather: 0% cloud cover, 5-10 mph winds, 94 degrees Fahrenheit. I did not witness the event, but she had to have been struck by one of the two cars who were heading Westbound. She was still stunned from the impact when I picked her up to take the images and measurements.
