Sunny & clear. Owl lying on right shoulder of slow traffic lane at base of steep hillside roadway cut. Large trees and telephone lines overhead (for roosting?); surrounding landscape is dried grassy undeveloped ag. land. Note: approx. 20' further up road was also recent roadkilled opossum lying on center yellow line. (Perhaps owl was in pursuit of opossum when both were hit by car(s)?)
