The coot was on the south shoulder of a bridge crossing over the Laguna de Santa Rosa, a stream that turns into more of a lake during the rainy season. It was located in the center of the span. The bridge is roughly 30 feet above the water level, and there was plenty of room for the coot to have flown underneath the bridge, but it flew over instead.
