Red-legged frog roadkill on the Camp KEEP campus driveway, Montana De Oro (MDO) State Park. I have never had a sighting of this species in MDO the past several decades and I am wondering if there are prior records of this species in Montana De Oro State Park or any known local breeding populations here in the Irish Hills? If this is not a dispersing individual from some local population, I speculate the possibility the frog was a stowaway in the wheel well or undercarriage of a co-worker's truck. His family owns and operates a large cattle ranch near the coast north of Cayucos where there is a known Red-legged frog population on the ranch. The frog might have been transported inadvertently when he drove the vehicle to work, fell to the road and was crushed??! Or, perhaps this is afterall an unexpected but valid record for this sighting and locality.
