Dead beaver just north of the Pioneer Commercial Center on Pacific Hwy/Barrett Rd. I forgot my tape measure, but I took him down for roughly two and half elbow lengths, which on me is about 40 inches. And he was deceptively heavy, probably moreso because he was waterlogged. The chip in his tail was also of interest. When I rolled him over, the bones poking out from his right leg made it pretty clear to me that he was hit by a car. This area comes is a source of an intermittent creek draining to Tenmile Creek via Barrett Lake. I didn't do a full wade-in survey, but the alder-dogwood-blackberry tangle there is definitely backed up. he drain in the ditch seems to be effective at preventing road flooding, but this is definitely a place to watch.
