Open grasslands on either side. Canal and cell tower to the south. BNSF to the east. This California ground squirrel is the older of two carcasses. The other carcass, also reported to CROS, was located about 40 feet west of this one and was in much less degraded condition and easily identifiable to California ground squirrel.
