This site is not far from the mountain lion car impact site from a couple of months ago. The weather at the time of observation was clear and cool (it does not appear as though fog covered the roadway during the morning hours). This section of highway is AC pavement to Cal Trans specifications, two lanes in the east and two lanes in the west direction. The shoulder is wide and paved leading into a vegetated edge of varying width. There is no center barrier, vegetation in that area consists mostly of grass. Area to the north and south is California annual grassland and valley oak/sycamore woodland. The area is grazed by cattle throughout the year. The fence adjacent to the east and westbound lanes is standard Cal Trans woven wire topped with barb wire. Culverts or other types of potential undercrossings were not observed in the area. The animal appeared to have been hit across the head by a vehicle tire.
