Unknown damage; extensive blood trail that disappeared into terrain I could not follow. Car parts found in road next to fur and blood trail indicate that at least one leg had a compound fracture. Reported by visitors at 20:45 p.m. PDT; CHP officer not available to verify report or find dying animal. Struck in Northbound lane, landed in Southbound lane about 22 feet further North. Sparse vegetation dominated by Atriplex hymenelytra (Desert holly), and Erigonum inflatum (Desert trumpet). Weather: 0% cloud cover, 0-1 mph winds, 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Badwater RoadSouthbound lane; 100 feet after mile marker 35, heading North; impact zone was 6.25 feet long; blood trail was over 2.5 miles long up into the canyons.
